Sabbatical research programme for foreign academic
The Sabbatical Programme for Foreign Academics is open to academics from outside South Africa and operates along the same lines as the Sabbatical Programme for South African Academics, subject to two qualifications. First, in the event of competition for office space, an African academic or academic from another country in the South will be preferred to an academic from the developed world. Secondly, financial assistance is given to academics from the developing world, especially Africa, to participate in the programme, whereas academics from well-resourced universities are expected to be self-funding.
Persons interested in applying for a place on the research sabbatical programme, either as a judge or academic, should send an expression of interest by e-mail to the Director at firstname.lastname@example.org attaching:
- a full CV, including the names of three referees
- two examples of recent written work
- a short outline of their proposed research topic
- an indication of the proposed time of their intended visit to SAIFAC (the ordinary period is two months, but applications for three-month research visits will be considered)
